Qum Silk Jafarnejad
Size(m): 1.52x1.02
Material: Silk
Reference: PE-100-000826
This is a magnificent corn silk carpet. It's made by hand. And whilst it is a fairly small carpet, in that it's 1.52 by 1.02 metres, it has a significant impact. And that is because of the range of colours that it presents. The central figure or image of this carpet has to be the I-shaped central medallion, which has a pupil being the rosette shape with a drop north and south. This is contained within the ovocular-shaped medallion. It has a lighter base colour to it. That is the colour between the central rosette shape and the outer border, tracing the depiction of an eye shape.
That lighter base colour is in contrast to the base colour of the main field, which is a darker shade altogether. The main field has an extraordinary aspect to it, in that the flowers there are a most beautiful and dark blue. This brings together the theme that is very apparent. The closer you go to the centre of the carpet, the lighter the blue becomes. And yet, in this outer area, being the main field of the carpet, that darker blue base colour is even further accentuated by the very dark and pronounced colours of the flowers.
Blue is an important colour in carpet making in Persia, and it holds considerable significance.
In Persian carpet design, the color blue holds profound cultural significance, often conveying symbolic meanings deeply rooted in tradition and cultural history. Here’s an interpretation of the blue elements in the described Persian carpet:
1.Blue is traditionally associated with the heavens and the divine in Persian culture. The use of light blue in the perimeters of the main guard border reflects a connection to celestial elements, symbolizing the infinite and divine nature of the universe.
2.Blue is also linked to spirituality and tranquility. Incorporating light blue in the carpet design may evoke a sense of calmness and inner peace, creating a harmonious atmosphere within the space.
The serpent-like shape moving throughout the main guard border, especially in blue tones, could signify protection. In Persian culture, serpents are sometimes associated with guarding against evil forces, making the use of blue in this context a symbolic shield.
Darker blue shapes, particularly when intertwined with vines, may symbolize the eternal nature of life and continuity. Blue is often associated with the endless expanse of the sky and the perpetuity of existence.
It is the defining characteristic of this carpet that the blue combines so nicely with the sandy yellow colours contained in the central medallion, the tendrils and the outer guard border. These are beautifully complemented and contrasted with the green colours and the aquamarine turquoise colours and the various other shades of blue in the carpet.
The impact of this carpet is one of clever design, harmony and unity. It would look sensational as a centrepiece or an accent point in a large room, or indeed, in a smaller room, it would set the tone with regard to the decor of that room. Purchase this carpet with complete confidence. It is a beautiful combination of colours, it is very refined with its muted shades of turquoise, teal and blues, and the combination of the sand colours and gold suggests the beauty of the sand and the ocean and the sky. These are things that touch our hearts and become important when we want to relax, and this carpet is very good for the relaxation of the mind and the resting of the soul.
This is one that can be purchased with complete confidence and it will provide satisfaction to the lucky owner and for generations to come.
