Mahal rugs like those of Lilihan and Mushkabad come from the town area of Arak, that like them are generally considered to belong to the Hamadan group. Similar to Hamadan they can be distinguished from the main group by virtue of the much larger knot. The pile is usually softer and designs of geometric with a central medallion floral pattern are also common. Borders are similar to Hamadan.
