Persian Qum Silk
Stock No. ME-100-000819
Size(m): 1.48×1.00
This rug is 1.48 by 1.0 meters. Its size means that it can have a dramatic effect in any interior where an accent or highlight is needed. It would look extremely good near an occasional table or to complement other rugs in a room.
The shape of the rug itself makes it very versatile and useful in interiors. The motifs of the rug require special attention as they are really quite a spectacular combination of features. The very center of the rug is a flower and it has red petals around its center. This appears within a lozenge shape that has a green base foundation and other floral motifs. From there, the shape evolves to what appears to be an ocular shape that is, the shape of the human eye, and it is placed longitudinally in the center of the central medallion.
The medallion itself is an extraordinarily intriguing shape in that it appears to be a cross of some sort, but not your usual cross. It is very much a variation of the Celtic idea of a cross where at the intersection of the lateral and horizontal beams there is a nimbus and that is the shape that we have described as the eye shape.
The arms of the cross reach the inner guard border. There is a magnificent combination of colors and motifs throughout the carpet. The central field of the carpet between the motif that is the center motif of the carpet and the inner guard borders has a foundation color of a rich blue. There is a plethora of flowers and vegetation throughout the carpet and the overall effect is spellbinding. There is a sense that we are in spring and there is an abundance of magnificent beauty everywhere. The fragility of it all, however, is not apparent as the beauty of spring is caught in the artwork. There is a magnificent combination of rambling plants and in the main guard border these plants almost take on the shape of a lattice. The outer guard border is comprised of a solid blue color, a very thin margin, but a tremendous containment of the majesty and beauty of the carpet itself.
This carpet holds a magnificent promise of rebirth and regrowth. It is spring with all the beauty and promise of new life. It would look magnificent in any setting which requires the inclusion of such artistry.
