This is a magnificent carpet. It is handmade, and it is from the city of Debris. It is made from cork wool, which is very fine wool obtained from the throats of sheep. The importance of fine wool is that it allows for a dense knot count. What this means is that there's clarity in relation to any picture created by the designer and the weavers. It is, as you were, pixel on TV. The better the pixel definition, the better the definition of the picture.
With a high knot density, it allows the design to incorporate curvilinear motifs. As it happens, this rug has a lot of such motifs and beautiful pictures. The carpet itself measures 2.14 cm by 0.82 cm. Its size and shape indicates that it would suit, perhaps, a hallway. It could be a runner, for instance.
The shape of the carpet is very conducive to the motifs which appear in its main field. The main field of the carpet is defined as that area which is framed by the guard borders.
In this carpet, you will see that there are darker borders, and in total, there's the outer guard border, and then the two parallel guard borders, one inner and one outer. Between that is a thicker guard border, which is referred to as the main guard border. These guard borders are darker in colour and act as a frame to the inner field of the carpet. The base colour of that inner field is a very lighter toned tan colour that is almost approaching a pastel dark white tanned colour. The carpet itself has repeat floral patterns, which can be defined as ten very much larger flowers than the rest, which appear connected by two vines which run down either side of the main field of the carpet. They are curvilinear and attached to the vines are a large number of flowers.
The significance of flowers in Persian carpet design is massive. They indicate quite often spring and new beginnings. It is a very optimistic carpet, therefore, and the very shape of the flowers moving along the vines is a wonderful invitation to walk along the carpet, encouraging one to do so both visually when looking at the carpet, and actually walking along its centre path.
The width of the carpet is a very useful width, which conforms with a lot of standard requirements with respect to the size of carpets in modern houses.
The carpet itself is made beautifully, and it would look great in any setting requiring a touch of luxury and magnificent beauty.
