Saruq (Sarouk) rugs originate in the village of that name in the region of Arak. Although the term can also describe rugs from the town of Arak or the villages in the region. Traditional colours include ground of orange-red turn down with ivory, dark blue and green and the frequent use of turquoise in the decoration, while on the rugs intended for the western market may include pink.
