Isfahan Silk
Size(m): 1.57×1.07
Material: Silk
Reference: PE-108-000021
This Isfahan silk carpet measures 1.57 by 1.07 metres. It has an extraordinary rose-etched central medallion with two drops north and south. The main field of the carpet has a dark blue base colour, which adds and assists to highlight the vines and flowers that cover the field.
The medallion at the centre is circular in shape and is like a flower that is opening up.
The noticeable feature of this carpet is the combination of geometric shapes, being the circle at the centre and the guard borders, together with the pattern in the guard borders, which is a geometric style pattern that creates triangles and also makes an incursion into the field of the carpet, forming the spandrels but in a lighter colour to the colours that it has in the main guard border. These shapes are beautifully adorned by various motifs, but most particularly a range of flowers.
There is a sense of containment and yet an explosion of life with this carpet. It is a colour combination that provides for restfulness. There are muted reds, greys, teal, beige and blues. The sense of completeness about the colour exists with the columns in the centre medallion being emphasised by the colours of the surroundings.
The abundance of flowers and the natural colours themselves reminds us of the renewal of life that is central to existence itself.

- Symbolic Meanings:Different flowers can carry specific symbolic meanings in Persian culture. For example, roses may represent love and beauty, while other flowers may symbolize concepts like purity, abundance, or even spiritual significance.
- Repeat Patterns:
