This is a most beautiful example of a panel design carpet from Qum made of Kourk wool. Panel design rugs contain a compartmentalised design divided into squares, rectangular shapes or even lattice or trellis patterns. Typically within those panels appear motifs as in this case. In many of thise panels appear the boteh motif, which is seen as symbolising the garden of paradise. The colours of red and brown (here they appear in muted tones and variations of shade from primary colours) are often used to symbolising beauty, wealth, courage luck and joy. The carpet would look delightful in many settings.
