This is a magnificent, although relatively small, Persian rug. It is from the city of Qom, and it is handmade out of silk. Its size is only 73 cm by 48 cm, yet contained within such a small rug is one of the most beautiful depictions of floral themes. The central medallion is beautifully encased in arrangements of flowers that cover its circumference. It is ocular in shape and reminds one indeed of the human eye. Latitudinally, north and south, there is an extension of the medallion, and it is a shape that has at its centre a flower, both north and south, and this provides an extension of the themes contained within the central motif. The main field of the carpet has a vine that has beautiful green colours and flowers everywhere.
