This is an extraordinarily beautiful overall 4 repeat motif centre medallion (lozenge shape) rug from Baku in Azerbaijan Russia. It has a clear geometric design to it that is very clever. This provides a very interesting visual experience allowing one to appreciate the beauty of one part of the rug and then having ones vision expanded either inward or outward. The colours are wonderful shades and tone of straw, stone, yellow, salmon and champagne. The overall impression this carpet gives is one of harmony and balance despite its mixture of colours and motifs.
